BRG - Training
The Department of Statistics is pleased to participate in the Bioinformatics Training Program for Health Research. This is a joint effort of UBC, Simon Fraser University and the BC Cancer Agency with funding from the Canadian Institute for Health Research, the Micheal Smith Foundation for Health Research, and the Sloan Foundation.
Students in this program can pursue either a M.Sc. or a Ph.D. Students must be admitted into one of several participating departments at UBC or SFU, including the UBC Department of Statistics. This program is appropriate for students who meet all requirements for admission into one of our department's existing graduate programs, have an interest in obtaining a graduate degree in statistics, and have documented interest and expertise in the area of bioinformatics. This generally takes the form of some previous coursework and/or research experience in biology and/or computer science. Students must be selected for admission into both the Statistics Department and the Bioinformatics Training Program; such students would receive funding through the training grant.
Please see the main website of the Training Program for more details.
Interested students are encouraged to learn more about the program at its main website (same link as above). Questions should be directed to the Bioinformatics Program Coordinator, Sharon Ruschkowski (bioinformaticsprogram at bcgsc dot ca). Statistics faculty member Jenny Bryan is affiliated with this program.
