Undergraduate Programs: Combined Programs

For the B.Sc Majors in Statistics program, you may choose nine credits upper level "theme" courses in another area. Details can be found here. Requirements and course information for the B.Sc Majors and honours in Statistics programs can be found here.

In addition to the Statistics major and honours programs, we also offer the following combined major and combined honours programs which provide increased security and flexibility in today's competitive job market

Combined Major Programs

Combined Honours Programs

If you are interested in combined programs, please obtain approval from the other department first, then consult the Statistics department.

A double major program involves satisfying the major requirements in two disciplines. A modest amount of "double counting" of credits is permitted in such cases, though usually no more than 6 credits can be counted for both majors without special permission. The most common subject for students to double major in with Statistics is Mathematics.

Students choosing to take a minor in Statistics will usually take 18 upper (i.e., 300 and 400) level credits in the subject. Note that, for a minor in Statistics, it is common for some Mathematics courses to be counted towards the minor.

Please consult the UBC calendar for further details. If you have questions, please contact the Statistics undergraduate advisor.

Information on Actuarial Science

We currently do not offer a program on Actuarial Science, although this may change in the future. We might be able to offer such courses again in the near future. Here are some old actuarial exams from the Society of Actuaries (SOA).

If you have questions, please contact the Statistics undergraduate advisor.
